Gordon Banks and Maurice Setters (Bobby Moore's preferred hard nut centre half partner) .... Greenwood got us Booby Ferguson and John Cushley instead .... we would have won the league with a tighter defence back then .... In mitigation Greenwood did at least sign Bonzo in the same season.

Lyall had a thing about both Mariner and Dixon, as posted elsewhere. He was like a stalker, pursuing an unrequited love, but in the end gave up on both.
We were also linked regularly with West Ham fan, Paul Williams of Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday, although we never did sign him. The little so and so, like Lukaku nowadays, always seemed to score against, however!
